Betel vine is an important source of income for the farmers at different places in the country.
Likewise the farmers of Sundarban Island, West Bengal also grow betel vine and earn good livelihood. The cultivation of betel vine in this area is largely done using the age old technologies. The productivity of betel vine is poor under the existing condition. There is an urgent need of updating the existing technologies.
In this connection, Sundarban Institute of Scientific and Cultural Advancement (SISCA) in collaboration with IGNOU Regional Centre, Kolkata has designed a Short Duration Training Programme in Betel Vine. This is of its first kind programme in the country.
