Dr. Kiron Bansal

Dr Kiron Bansal, (Associate Professor, SOJNMS) has twenty five years of experience in media education and research. She joined IGNOU in 1996 as Lecturer in Communication, Electronic Media Production Centre. Prior to that she worked with the Centre for Women’s Studies &
Development (CWSD), BHU, Varanasi.
At IGNOU she has been involved in the design and development of academic programmes and research and training activities in media and communication. She has launched an academic programme- Post Graduate Diploma in Audio Programme Production and is developing an MA (Journalism & Mass Communication) programme. She also coordinated PhD in Journalism & Mass Communication and served as the Director of SOJNMS during Feb. 14, 2013 – 2016. Her areas of specialization include: Communication Research, Development Communication, Gender and Media Studies.
She has been awarded four Gold Medals for her various academic achievements, including the first Gold Medal for Best Research Paper by IGNOU in 2004. She has presented research papers in various international conferences at Glasgow; UNESCO, Paris and Syracuse University, USA and has a number of publications to her credit in prestigious national and international journals.
