Deputy Director (Software)

Mr. Lalit Mohan Pant s/o Shri D.N. Pant, with 18 years of IT experience who has served C-DOT ( Center for Development of Telematics - Govt. of India's autonomous body under DoT),for 8 years along with varied experience of corporate sectors viz. HCL Technologies Ltd. Noida & Tech Mahindra Ltd. Noida, has joined the Indira Gandhi National Open University, New delhi on 01^st of Septemberr, 2014 as Deputy Director (Software) in Computer Division.

He has done significant work in the field of telecommunications, GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications), VoIP (Voice over IP), web portals and enterprise level data center management & networking. An alumnus of Kumaon Engineering College, Dwarahat (Almora) since 1995, he did Master’s of Technology Degree (Computer Sc & Technology) from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi in the year 2000 and has served the same University as IT consultant in DBT(Department of Bio-Technology) funded projects for the duration of 3 years. He has also been involved with Govt. Polytechnic, Delhi Administration as a faculty member for computer subjects.

His technical skills in web portals, has helped the automation of C-DOT’s control room processes  as well as JNU research work in the bio-informatics area. He has been one of the authors of research work “PfalDB: An Integrated Drug Targets and Chemical Database for Plasmodium falciparum”. Before joining IGNOU, he was associated with Telecommunications Consultants India Limited (TCIL), Greater Kailash - I, New Delhi as a Solution Architect (e-Governance) for 2 years.

Presently he is managing IGNOU HQ’s data center operations and networking services and working on the requirements of ICT (Information Communication Technology) expansion plan up to IGNOU Regional Centers. He is also a nodal officer of the NIC cloud services for hosting Domain Name Service (DNS), IGNOU web site and student related services.

Aside, he has been a life time member of Computer Society of India (CSI) and an active participant of CSI events in Delhi Chapter.
