Marketing of Study Material
The Marketing Cell has been engaged in the sale of study materials by spot selling them at the Headquarters, Universities/Educational Institutions in India and abroad, through IGNOU’s appointed retail agents and through participation in book fairs and exhibitions. For this purpose, publicity and promotional material, including price catalogue, information brochures, pamphlets, etc. are being developed and printed by the Marketing Cell.
At present, there are 15 retail agents in five cities. The Marketing Cell is in the process of establishing more retail agents so that the IGNOU’s study materials can be made widely available to the general public.
Participation in book fairs and exhibitions in addition to career fairs is one of the important activities of the cell. The Marketing Cell participated in Education World Wide India ‘Sprint 2009’ (Gateway to World Education), organised by Global Events and Exhibitions Pvt Ltd on April 25-26, 2009; in Delhi Book Fair organised by the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) from 27/08/2011 to 04/09/2011 and the World Book Fair 2012 at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi from 25th Feb. to 04th March 2012, organised by National Book Trust.
The Marketing Unit generated a sale of Rs 2,96,34,911/- during the year 2011-2012.
