The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has always been a front-runner in identifying the developmental needs of our country and designing suitable programmes for the benefit of the society and the economy of the country.

The Centre for Extension Education (CEE) was established to be the nodal centre of all extension education activities being undertaken by the University and to enable the University to contribute to the goals of societal development and improvement in the quality of human life through application of knowledge. The major objective of CEE is to design and develop Extension Education Programmes for the benefit of the population at the grassroots level.

To fulfill its objectives, CEE has developed programmes/courses which have practical orientation. These programmes draw upon the academic experience of  the university system, and also inputs from governmental, non-governmental and industrial organisations operating in similar areas.
