It is a Government of India initiative to develop "An Open Source, Open Standard enabled Robust, Secure,Scalable and Evolutionary Process Automation Engine for Universities and Higher Education Institutions" under “National Mission in Education through ICT”, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt.of India.
 
IGNOU also decided to avail the Samarth ERP applications by the way of shifting to cloud platform. COE has been entrusted with this project.
 
1. Recruitment Portal for Academic and Non-Academic positions
IGNOU decided to avail the Cloud based platform for IGNOU staffs’ recruitment process of Academic and Non-Academic positions which would be advertised in September 2019. COE was given the responsibility to coordinate this activity with Academic Coordination Division, Administration Division and Samarth Project team, IIC, University of Delhi, and South Campus. COE Responsibility to provide the relevant input to Samarth Project team, test and reviews of recruitment application forms which are hosted at cloud platforms. The recruitment portal have been activated successfully for teaching posts (Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and Professor) and   subsequently for non-teaching posts in January, April & October 2020 respectively for the following posts.
  • Registrar (Student Evaluation Division)
  • Director (Computer Division)
  • Deputy Registrar (under direct recruitment)
  • Public Relation Officer (PRO, under direct recruitment)
  • Registrar (Administration Division)
2. Migrating Existing Online Admission System (OAS) to Cloud based portal.
At present existing OAS are accessed by almost 4 lakhs of applicants at every session. As a result the application gives slow performance and the applicants are facing the problems on uploading the documents and making the online payments etc.
 
To ensure the smooth process of OAS, the IGNOU decided that shifting OAS to cloud based platform for January 2020 admission cycle onwards. COE is closely working with SRD, Computer Division and Samarth Project team to migrate the existing OAS application and database to Open Source application and database in Cloud platform. The parallel stand-by platform also be available with IGNOU HQs to ensure disaster recovery management plan. The session wise learners enrollment details are given below:

3. Migrating Existing online Re-Registration (ORR) to Cloud based portal.
To ensure the smooth process existing re-registration system, IGNOU decided that shifting ORR to cloud based platform for July 2020 session onwards. COE coordinated with SRD, Computer Division and Samarth Project team for data migration the existing ORR application and database to Open Source application and database in Cloud platform. The parallel stand-by platform will also be available with IGNOU HQs to ensure disaster recovery management plan. In July 2020 Re-Registration session, 51 programmes were offered and 346790 learners were enrolled. 
 
4. ODL Soft migration to Cloud based portal.
COE is coordinating with F&A, ADMIN, ACD Computer Division and Samarth Project team for ODL data migrationto SAMARTH ERP databases, IGNOU Employee profile setting and relevance training to the respective stakeholders. As part of Finance package, the Salary generation module and Employee Income-Tax Declaration modules have been completed. These applications testing phases are going on and to be implemented at soon. The Leave Management System and all other HR modules will be taken as part of Phase-2 activities.
