Development of the Scheme for Assessment and Accreditation (A&A) of Open and Distance Learning (ODL) for NAAC
 
 
The MHRD and the UGC took the initiative to develop a Scheme for Assessment and Accreditation and Accreditation (A&A) of Open and Distance Learning (ODL) Institutionsof the country for NAAC. Prof. Nageshwar Rao, the Vice Chancellor of IGNOU was appointed as Chairperson of the National Task Force (NTF) on Assessment and Accreditation of ODL. The Chairperson of NTF entrusted CIQA of IGNOU with the task of compiling the draft manuals for Open Universities and Directorates of Distance Education functioning under Dual Mode Universities and conducting national consultations for finalizing the Manuals. CIQA organized two national level consultations and the meeting of the NTF in collaboration with NAAC during the current year (2018-2019).
 
  1. National consultation on 3rd October 2018 at IGNOU Headquarters, New Delhi. This national consultation was organized by CIQA, IGNOU in collaboration with NAAC, with all the major Statutory/ National bodies, Vice Chancellors of Open Universities and IGNOU officials.
  2. National consultation on 31st October was organized by NAAC in collaboration with CIQA, IGNOU with members of the National Consultative Group constituted by UGC- NAAC and NAAC officials.
  3. National Task Force meeting on 27th November, 2018 at IGNOU, New Delhi was organized by CIQA, IGNOU in collaboration with NAAC which was attended by members of the NTF.
  4. A team from CIQA, IGNOU worked along with the NAAC officials at NAAC HQs in December 2018 and in March 2019 to fine tune the draft Manuals for ODL institutions in accordance with the existing NAAC Manuals which have been thereafter uploaded by NAAC on its website for seeking feedback from stakeholders.
  5. The Centre has also initiated the process of collecting data from the Schools/ Divisions/Centres/Units/Cell for the purpose of the NAAC accreditation in the future.
