Methodology
- Identification of the communities, habitats and knowledge systems by way of survey, collection and documentation of the knowledge from primary and secondary sources.
- Research initiatives to locate and identify priority areas, developing the identified knowledge of the communities in a manner relevant to contemporary needs of the society with the help of participatory and laboratory based research.
- Creation and development of data-base in digitized form of the identified and documented indigenous knowledge and technology for further application of the traditional technology for wider usage.
- Empowering communities and the youth by way of short and long term modular, credit based skills training programmes with certification.
- Strengthening the Knowledge System with relevant value addition for use of the contemporary society.
- Production of academic curriculum and translating the material in regional/ local languages to support and augment wider knowledge dissemination across the nation and for global linkage.
- Formulation of schemes for Accreditation and Certification of the Prior Learning (ACPL) for various discipline of TKS.
- Communitisation of the training programmes which would not be habitat or region specific.
- Developing modules for the protection of traditional customary laws and institutions.
- Sensitising the indigenous/local communities of Intellectual Property Right, patenting laws and geographic indications of their respective IKT.
