In the Year, 2008 a new scheme called ‘Convergence Scheme’ (CS) was introduced by IGNOU. Under this scheme the idling time of the physical and human resources of the conventional system like classrooms, laboratories, libraries, Teacher, etc.; were to be more effectively and optimally.

Objective of Convergence Scheme:-

Under this scheme , it was visualized that Conventional Education Institutions/Universities could offer IGNOU programmes to their own conventional learners pursuing a degree/diploma as well as others with the objectives of providing them with:

• Value addition to their existing curriculum;
• Some kind of job orientation and employable skills;
• Competency/Skill development through Vocational/Professional education;
• Exposure to use of latest technology for educational solutions;
• Seamless access to quality education;
• Flexible and blended learning methods.
