Project ‘Sagardeep’ was inked on 24 June 2011 with Indian Navy to extend educational opportunities to the sailors of Indian Navy under the Community College scheme of IGNOU, recognising the ‘In-Service’ training/courses undergone by them at Naval Training Schools / Institutes / Establishments of the Indian Navy (known as Navy-IGNOU Community Colleges – NICCs).

The sailors would be awarded the Certificate in Naval Science and Technology; Diploma in Diving Operation; and Associate Degree in Science upon successful completion of their training / course.
