Capacity Development on Innovation

Capacity development is one of the thrust areas of NCIDE. In this context, NCIDE has been organizing various types of training and workshops for the faculty members, the staff as well as the students focussing on the technological innovations, creativity and innovations in the ODL system. Training Workshop on Creative Use of ICT Tools : Towards Innovative Learning Solutions Organized by NCIDE, IGNOU (April 09-10, 2019)
A two-day training workshop was organized for the faculty members of IGNOU on Creative Use of ICT Tools : Towards Innovative Learning Solutions. The main focus of the workshop was on providing exposure and hands on training on various ICT tools which the faculty members can then use in their teaching-learning and academic support for the benefit of the learners. Workshop on Business Plan Development for IGNOU Students during Festival of Ideas Organized by Institution’s Innovation Council, NCIDE (February 28 – March 01, 2019)
Festival of Ideas, which was organized with the objectives to recognize, share, nurture and promote the ideas of the students of IGNOU. An idea competition was organized on February 28, 2018 to evaluate the ideas, proof of concept and prototypes. In this competition, an exhibition of ideas was organised through posters and oral presentation. A workshop on Business Plan Development was organised for all the selected students on 01st March 2019. The workshop was aimed to impart knowledge and skills related to Intellectual Property Rights, Design thinking, and Business Plan Development and facilitate them to convert their ideas into innovative products and services. Workshop on “Cognitive Skills, Design Thinking and Critical Thinking” organized by Institution’s Innovation Council , NCIDE (January 17, 2019)
A workshop on Cognitive Skills, Design Thinking and Critical Thinking was organized under the Institution’s Innovation Council for the teachers and students of IGNOU. This effort is expected to sensitize the participants about cognitive skills, design thinking process and critical thinking in general, and education in particular. This workshop also discusses how to improve cognitive skills, metacognitive skills and critical thinking. Workshop on “Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) organized by Institution’s Innovation Council, NCIDE (December 13, 2018)
A workshop on Intellectual Property Rights was organized under the Institution’s Innovation Council for the teachers and students of IGNOU. This effort is expected to generate awareness among the participants about the various aspects of IPR and sensitize them about the role of IPR in innovation and invention. Workshop on Leadership in Innovation by NCIDE, IGNOU at New Delhi on July 18, 2018

Seven-day Training Workshop on Research and Innovation : The Road Ahead by NCIDE and RU, IGNOU at New Delhi during March 19-27, 2018
IGNOU has about 1500 research scholars enrolled in PhD and MPhil Programmes. There is a need to foster awareness about research, innovation and creativity among the research scholars, keeping in view the above need, the present workshop was aimed to : (i) impart the skills of research methodology, IPR issues in research, research ethics and academic writing and editing to the research scholars.

Seven-day workshop on Creativity and Innovation in ODL at New Delhi during March 9-14, 2016
Keeping with the objectives of NCIDE for capacity building, a seven-day workshop on “Creativity and Innovation in ODL” was organized at NCIDE from March 9-14, 2016 to sensitize the Faculty of IGNOU to perceive and understand creativity and innovation in the ODL system, and to generate creative ideas and implement those ideas in the ODL system. Workshop on Creativity in Designing and Development Assessment Methods by NCIDE, IGNOU at New Delhi during March 20-22, 2013
Evaluation is an integral part of the education system. But it has been notices that this very important component of the entire education system is most of the time not given due importance. The reasons may be many. But one of them is lack of proper training and orientation of the faculty and the experts involved in the evaluation system. This workshop was conducted with the basic objective of exploring the possibility of innovation and creativity in framing quality questions and preparing balanced question papers. A Two Day Follow-up Workshop to the IGNOU-CEMCA Workshop on EasyNow Open Source ICT Tools by IGNOU and CEMCA at IGNOU, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi during November 15-16, 2010
A two-day workshop was organised as a follow up to the IGNOU CEMCA workshop on EasyNow Open Source Tools to provide more hands on practice to the participants. The aim was to enable the faculty members to develop multimedia digital content for your courses.

NCIDE organized a five days workshop in collaboration with CEMCA to train the IGNOU faculty on the design and development of audio/video instructional material. The workshop was aimed at training the participants on EasyNow which is a select set of easily available open source ICT tools that can be used to produce quality materials for open and distance learning and make them available on the World Wide Web. The workshop was organized on skill development using ICT tools for Innovative Learning solutions. The main focus of the workshop was on collaborative learning tools with emphasis on demonstration and hands on training.
 
National Seminar on Innovations in Distance Education and their Applications (2008)
To foster the spirit of innovation, NCIDE, IIT Delhi, and Microsoft came together on a common platform to search for the technologies that would facilitate innovative solutions for Distance Education in India. In this context, a National Seminar on Innovations and their Applications (IDEA-2008) was organized by NCIDE on December 22-23, 2008. The objectives of the seminar were to explore new avenues for innovations in distance education and to explore the available and emerging technologies for distance education. The areas or themes deliberated upon were (i) Innovations in Distance Education, and (ii) Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Distance Education. For more information click here

A three-day “Workshop on ICT Skill Development of Non-academic Staff for Innovative Organizational Solutions” for the non-academic staff from various Divisions and Schools was organized. A workshop on Skill Development Using ICT tools for Innovative Learning Solutions organized by NCIDE for the teachers of IGNOU. This workshop was organized with the objectives of acquainting the IGNOU faculty with some of the latest ICT tools and to employ the skills thus developed by the IGNOU faculty to prepare prototype content, in the workshop, using the ICT tools. National Workshop on Development of Interactive Multimedia Scripts for Computer Literacy Programme 10-14, December, 2007
NCIDE conducted a 5 day workshop from 10.12.07 to 14.12.07 for the experts of CLP. In all 13 experts attended the workshop and developed 58 interactive multimedia scripts of CLP. The experts were invited from different institutes of the North-east India. After the training programme 52 multimedia scripts were generated.

A workshop on the Use of Innovative PowerPoint Presentations in EDUSAT Series II was organised for the teachers of IGNOU. This workshop was planned basically to address those faculty members of IGNOU who had just started using PowerPoint Presentation to deliver the content through teleconferencing and who were interested to make it more meaningful and interesting to the distance learners. Design and development of an innovative multimedia and e-learning package on “Integrated Management of Neonatal Childhood Illness
A series of workshops were organized by NCIDE in collaboration with SOHS (22.01.2007, 10.03.2007, 18.03.2007, and 24-25.03.2007) to design and develop an innovative multimedia and e-learning package on “Integrated Management of Neonatal Childhood Illness”. NCIDE faculty briefed the doctors about the instructional design mechanisms and models for developing multimedia scripts for the IMNCI package. In total 20 Interactive multimedia scripts were developed by the doctors through these workshops. A multimedia and e-learning prototype was also developed in the process.
 
Two-Way Interactive NCIDE-CEE-NEP Floriculture Training Programme using EDUSAT – From Teleconferencing to Live Virtual Conference at IGNOU, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi during November 7-9, 2006
NCIDE, in collaboration with CEE and NEP, conducted a successful three-day training in floriculture in the North east using EDUSAT in 2006. The two-way interactive sessions had the resource persons at the EMPC, IGNOU end and participants at each of the regional centres at Gangtok (Sikkim) and Shillong (Meghalaya). Huge opportunities exist for such programmes in the field of flowers as well as the medicinal and aromatic plants of the north east. For more information click here
 
A Two-Way Interactive NCIDE-NEP Training Workshop on Entrepreneurship Skills Development Programme using EDUSAT – From Teleconferencing to Live Virtual Conference at IGNOU, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi during August 28-31, 2006
NCIDE, in collaboration with NEP, conducted four-day training in entrepreneurship skills development programme using EDUSAT t in 2006. The two-way interactive sessions had the resource persons at the EMPC, IGNOU end and participants at each of the regional centres at Agartala and Aizawl. EDUSAT can serve as a very effective tool for skill based training. The NCIDE proposes to reaffirm this through diverse employable skill based training initiatives. For more information click here
