Dr. P Vijayakumar
Associate Professor
Dr. P. Vijayakumar is working as Associate Professor in the School of Agriculture, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi. Currently, at IGNOU, he is involved in teaching, research and extension activities. He is coordinating ONE Awareness Programmes viz. Awareness Programme on Dairy Farming (APDF) and TWO Certificate Programmes viz. Certificate in Sericulture (CIS) and Certificate in Poultry Farming (CPF). He has developed and offering a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) course on “Introduction to Poultry Farming” in the SWAYAM platform. He has contributed in the development of FOUR audio programmes and 12 video programmes. He has been involved in FIVE different projects sanctioned by various ministries/organizations for development and delivery of educational/training programmes in ODL Mode. Till date, he has organized one 12-day International Training Programme on “Advanced Poultry Farm Management and Marketing” programme for Afghan nationals and 21 training programmes for farmers, rural youth, and extension functionaries of our country in the areas of Animal Husbandry, Soil and Water Conservation and Food Safety. He is the Nodal officer from School of Agriculture for the iGRAM Grievance Redressal portal. He is also involved in the Food Safety Certification and Training (FOSTAC) programme of Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) as organizer, Trainer and Assessor at IGNOU. He is actively involved as expert at NIOS, CBSE, NCERT and FSSAI. His areas of interest are Animal Husbandry, Livestock Production Management, Distance Education and Food Safety.
