Prof. Raghvendra Pratap Singh is a faculty member in the Discipline of Rural Development, School of Continuing Education and Director (I/C) of National ODL Centre for Local Governance, Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi. He holds Master’s Degree, M.Phil and Ph.D in Sociology from the Centre for the Study of Social System, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. Prof. Singh is the author of the books ‘Sociology of Rural Development in India’ and ‘Rural Development: Theory and Practice’. He has contributed research articles in several academic journals and many units in IGNOU study materials. He has participated in various National and International Seminars. Prof. Singh is the member of School Board of School of Journalism and New Media Studies and School of Continuing Education.
Prof. Singh has initiated, coordinated and edited various courses and programmes of study in the area of Rural Development, HIV and Family Education, Social Work and Development Studies at IGNOU. His areas of interest include Rural Sociology, Development Studies, Panchayati Raj, Rural Development Programmes, Land Reforms and Political Sociology.
