Dr. M.V. Lakshmi Reddy

Associate Professor

 

An alumnus of four Universities (two State, one Central and one National) in India, Dr. Reddy's educational qualifications, job experience, activities plus the contributions to academic disciplines of education, adult education, population education and distance education as well as to IGNOU, among others, include the following.

Educational qualifications

  • BSc, MA (Adult Education), BEd, PGDIS (Post-Graduate Diploma in Statistics), and PhD (Adult Education) from Sri Venkateswara University (Andhra Pradesh) acquired through conventional mode in 1982, 1984, 1985, 1987 and 1990 respectively.
  • Qualified UGC-JRF (NET) examination in Adult Education in 1987 and availed UGCJunior/Senior Research Fellowships while doing his PhD.
  • MEd acquired through correspondence mode from Madurai Kamaraj University (Tamil Nadu) in 1987.
  • LLB from University of Delhi as regular, evening course under semester system in 1996.
  • PGDDE (Post-Graduate Diploma in Distance Education) and CIC (Certificate inComputing), both from Indira Gandhi National Open University, in 1996 and 2000 respectively.

Job experience

  • Associated with IGNOU since October 1993 till date in various positions, viz. Assistant Director, Lecturer, Lecturer (Senior Scale), Reader and, currently, Associate Professor.
  • Two years (1991-93) with National Institute of Adult Education (Delhi) as a Research Associate.
  • A short span of a few months in 1991 with Gulbarga University (Karnataka) as a Research Officer.

Activities and Contributions

  • Published four solely authored books, titled Population Education Programmes in India (1993); Population Education: Misconceptions and Clarifications (1994); Dynamic Role of Adult Education: Marching Towards a Learning Society (2000); and Towards Better Practices in Distance Education (2001).
  • Published four chapters (one each in a different book), 21 articles and 13 book reviews in various academic journals.
  • Presented 30 papers at national and international conferences, seminars, workshops, etc.
  • Edited five volumes of 'Indian Journal of Open Learning' of IGNOU as an associate editor.
  • Wrote 13 units, revised 19 units, did content and language editing of 35 Blocks (134 Units), besides format editing of all these units of course material for different programmes of IGNOU. Dr. Reddy taught at the International Winter School on Comparative Studies on Adult and Lifelong Learning during his Visiting Professorship at Julius-Maximillan University of Wurzburg, Wurzburg, Germany from 6th – 17th February 2017. Dr Reddy is currently the Coordinator of Post-Graduate Certificate in Adult Education (PGCAE), Post-Graduate Diploma in Adult Education (PGDAE) and Master of Arts in Adult Education (MAAE) programmes offered by IGNOU. In addition, he is the Coordinator of 12 courses including courses of “Adult Education” specialisation area under MA (Education) programme and a course of BEd programme of IGNOU. Recently, a research student successfully pursued PhD under his guidance.
