Dr. Niradhar Dey

Associate Professor

Dr. Niradhar Dey is presently contributing to School of Education, Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi at the capacity of Associate Professor in Education. Earlier, he joinedIGNOU, New Delhi in November 2011 as Assistant Professor in Education in the School of Education. He has also served to the Department of Education, Guru Ghasidas Viswavidyalaya (A Central University), Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh as Assistant Professor in Education in the Department of Education.He has done his Bachelor’s Degree from Utkal University, Bhubaneswar, Odisha. He has pursued his Master and M.Phil. in Education with First Class First in order of merit and Ph.D. in Education from Sambalpur University, Odisha. He pursuedhis Master of Arts in History from Sambalpur University, Odisha. He has pursued PGDHE, PGDDE and CIG from Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi. 

His specialization areas are as follows:

• Educational Measurement and Evaluation
• Educational Technology
• Research Methodology in Education
• Teacher Education
• Pedagogy of Social Science
• Open and Distance Learning, Blended and Online Education.

He has around 20 years of experience of teaching both in Conventional, ODL and OnlineEducation system.With guiding Ph.D. students in Education, he has taught to the UG, PG, Ph.D. and Integrated M.Phil. & Ph.D. students in education.

He is presently associated with M.A. (Education) and B.A. General - CBCS (Education Subject) at the capacity of Programme Coordinator and Post Graduate Diploma in Adult Education at the capacity of ProgrammeCo-Coordinator and also Course Coordinator of more than 10 Courses at different levels of the programmes of IGNOU. He is also coordinating SWAYAM Online B.Ed. courses, BES-125 Understanding Disciplines and Subjects and BES-127 Assessment for Learning. He is associated with other Programmes of the School of Education like B.Ed., BAG (CBCS-Education Subject), D.El.Ed., Ph.D. (Education) and PGDEMA as Course Coordinator.

Presently, he is engaged withthe following nature of work:

• Coordinating academic programmes and courses.
• Planning, designing, development and revision of curriculum for ODL, Blended and Online Education.
• Writing units for ODL programmes.
• Supervising Ph.D. scholars in Education.
• Developing modules for online courses under SWAYAM and Moodle platforms.
• Developing video lessons for Online Courses under SWAYAM platform and SWAYAM PRABHA Channel.
• Transacting curriculum by using blended mode.
• Orienting the Academic Counsellors and monitoring programme based activities.
• Engaging learners through Teleconferencing in Gyandarshan TV-1, SWAYAM PRABHA TV Channel (Teacher Education Channel No.20), Radio Interactive Counselling Sessions in FM Radio, Facebook Live sessions, YouTube video lessons, Zoom, Google Meet, MS Teams, etc.
• Developing audio-video lessons for ODL programmes.
• Participating in various evaluation activities across the programmes both off line and online.
• Convener of School Council Meeting, member of DRC, and School Board (two terms) in School of Education, IGNOU.
• Preparing SOE inputs for Ministry of Education Report (earlier MHRD), IGNOU Profile, IGNOU Annual Report, IGNOU Convocation publications, IGNOU Foundation Day report and display, parliamentary questions, and for other important reports required at different times.    

Under his supervision, research scholars have been awarded Ph.D. in Education and presently students are also continuing their Ph.D. studies. He has also published 3 Books, more than 50 Research Papers / Articles (both in Journals and Edited Books), presented papers in more than 50 International and National level Seminars / Conferences /Workshops. With the sponsorship of Commonwealth of Learning, he has participated and presented paper in the International Conference on Open and Innovative Education at Hong Kong organised by the Open University of Hong Kong in 2018. He has also delivered invited lectures for many institutions/universities. He has also completed ICSSR sponsored project on ‘State Open Universities (SOUs) in India: An Evaluation’.
