Dr. Rampelli Satyanarayana (born 1956) M.A., M.Ed., MA in Distance Education,
Post-Graduate Diploma in Higher Education., Ph.D. (Distance Education) is presently working as Associate Professor of Distance Education, Staff Training and Research Institute of Distance Education of Indira Gandhi National Open University. He has been associated with its Regional Services Division in the capacity of Lecturer in Distance Education / Assistant Regional Director both at Hyderabad and Pune Regional Centres for ten years.
Before joining IGNOU, he was associated with Andhra Pradesh Residential Educational System as a Lecturer and also with Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University, Hyderabad for rendering counselling services to its learners.
He is a Social Science Student by training and a teacher, capacity builder and capacity sharer in the Open and Distance Education by conviction. He strongly believes in global learning for local purpose. His professional interest includes innovative, expermentative models of curriculum and learner support systems, its planning and operations and implication in Indian contest are his professional interest areas.
His research work is on ‘Learner Support Services and Open Learner’ : Role of teacher in Open and Distance Education in the Indian contest: Building an historical background on the “Generation of knowledge” of education in Indian contest: Exploring the possibilities of developing models of Student Support Services in the contest of Indian needs and demands.
He has published twenty articles and discussion papers in the areas of open and distance education in Indian contest: and his two books Student Support Services and Open Learning has been published by Mittal Publication, New Delhi. The other book is also on ‘Student Support Services’ published by STRIDE, IGNOU.
Finally his conviction is that he is a “Knowledge worker for knowledge society”: where shamelessly borrowing of knowledge with integrity for seamless education is ultimate purpose his knowledge and experiences.
