Prof. Amitav Mishra

Professor

Prof. Amitav Mishra is currently serving as Professor (Special Education) at Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi, India. He has been actively involved in training of special education teachers and professionals since 1990. Prof. Mishra was graduated in mental retardation (BMR) with gold medal from National Institute for the Mentally Handicapped (Osmania University, Hyderabad) and a first class first post graduation degree in education in hearing impairment from AYJ National Institute for the Hearing Handicapped (University of Mumbai) and has a Ph.D. degree from University of Lucknow. He is also advising various professional bodies and non-government organizations such as Special Olympics Bharat, National Convention of Educators of the Deaf India, Jeevandhara Rehabilitation Research Institute- Uttar Pradesh and also serves as expert member in various national and international committees and organizations such as Rehabilitation Council of India, New Delhi, National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Multiple Disability, Chennai. Prof. Mishra has guided more than 12 Ph.D. scholars, has about 50 research publications and edits a professional journal of NCED India.

 

Prof. Mishra has been honored with several awards such as ‘Eunice Shriver Kennedy Award’ from Special Olympics; ‘Derozio Award’ from Indian Council of Secondary Education, New Delhi for Human Enrichment and Education; Governor’s Award for Excellence in Services to Persons with Disabilities (Government of Uttar Pradesh); and ‘Prof. Kali Charan Memorial Award’ for Best Doctoral Research from University of Lucknow. Prof. Mishra has been invited and visited Greece and Republic of China.
