Dr. Nisha Varghese

Assistant Professor




Dr Nisha Varghese is currently Assistant Professor in the School of Extension and Development Studies at Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi. A merit holder during Graduation and a gold medallist during her Master’s programme, she attained her Doctoral degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad, Karnataka, India. Her areas of teaching and research interest are Quantitative Techniques, Research Methods, Desertification, Labour Migration, Agriculture and other Development related issues.

She has professional experience in various organizations of repute like Agricultural Finance Corporation (AFC), Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), Institute of Economic Growth (IEG) and National Centre for Agricultural Economics and Policy Research (NCAP). Dr. Varghese joined IGNOU in 2009 and since then she has been associated with various activities like teaching, preparation of self learning materials, radio counseling, Programme Design and Development etc.. She has guided students for their Dissertation in MA in Extension and Development Studies and has also guided PhD students. She has also been a member of the Academic Council Standing Committee and Academic Council of IGNOU. While at IGNOU, she has presented papers in several international conferences. Dr Varghese has several publications to her credit in various national and international journals.

Currently she is involved in the development of Post Graduate Diploma in Corporate Social Responsibility.
