Professional Involvement at National/International Level

1. Member in the Curriculum committee for Programme for physicians for ‘Stand alone Dialysis Unit’ of GOI
2. Helped to develop Curriculum for a Certificate Programme in Family Health and Nursing Care (Paribarik Swasthyaseva) of FM University, Orissa and resource person for Course writer workshop held on June10, 2007 at Cuttack, Orissa.
3. Participated as an expert in the in testing of ICATT ( IMCI Computerised Adaptation and Training Tool) in the workshop held on May 01-06, 2007 at Novartis IT Training Centre, Basel, Switzerland on behalf of WHO.
4. Participated as a resource person in workshop for Development of Self Instructional Material (SIM) at FM University, Orissa on Feb. 4-10, 2007
5. Participated as an expert in the ICATT ( IMCI Computerised Adaptation and Training Tool) workshop held on July 11-14, 2006 at Novartis IT Training Centre, Basel, Switzerland on behalf of WHO.

8. Participated as a core group member for planning, designing and implementation strategy of DNB (Rural Surgery) by NBE (National Board of Examination) launched w.e.f. July, 2006.
9. Involve din the planning stage of the Pilot Project of MOHFW for implementation of CME for MBBS Doctors through teleconferencing mode
10. Participated in the Course design and development process of ‘Certificate in Community Health ( Jan-Swasthya)’ of National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) in 2005-06.

Experience in Planning and Designing:

1. Designed a one-year Post Graduate Diploma in Maternal and Child Health (PGDMCH) through Distance Education mode for MBBS Doctors
2. Designed an implementation model for Maternal and Child Health Programme through Distance Education Mode that could also be applicable to developing countries.
3. Designed a three-tier monitoring system for ensuring quality medical training through distance education mode.
4. Designed a self training capsule on Integrated Management of Child hood Illness (IMCI) through interactive CD and assisting manual. Development of the package is in progress.
5. Designed a one-year Post Graduate Certificate in Rural Surgery (PGCRS) through Distance Education mode for Doctors of Surgical Speciality.
6. Designed a Surgical Training Model through Distance Education mode.
7. Helped in developing an implementation design of a one-year Post Graduate Diploma in Geriatric Medicine through Distance Education Mode.
8. Involved in the task force of NRHM-II for integrating the Rural Health Practitioners into main stream.
9. Development of Post Doctoral Certificate Programme in Dialysis Medicine’ for Postgraduates in Medicine/paediatrics
10. Development of Post Graduate Diploma in HIV Medicine for MBBS doctors

Experience in Net working and Management:

1. Helped in establishment of Programme Study Centres (PSC) in about 40 Medical Colleges to function as the training Centre for doctors through distance education mode.
2. Helped in establishing about 20 state level monitoring committees involving the State Health Departments. About 50 state level meeting conducted
3. Coordinating the training process of MBBS doctors (distance education students) in the Maternal and Child Health with an annual enrollment of more than 500 per year.
4. Coordinated training in Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) at national level through the Central Technical Committee (CTC).
5. Trained Medical Experts to write Distance Education materials in Self-leaning mode by conducting zonal level orientation training workshops. About 10 such workshops have been organized and conducted. Another 15-20 training workshops conducted for uniform implementation of the MCH Programme across the country.
6. Coordinating and Utilising the teleconference and audio-conference mode for training of Counsellor and students at national level. About 100 such sessions have been organized and training conducted.
7. Conducting Annual Practical examination for PGDMCH and PGCRS Programme at national level involving about 200 examiners spread over in 30 medical colleges.
8. Involved in the pilot project of MOHFW, GOI for CME of MBBS Doctors through DE Mode.

Experience in Research and Education Activities:

1. Involved in developing interactive DVD enabled and mobile supported Training package for health workers
2. Development of Multimedia enabled IMNCI Package for doctors
3. Writing and Editing of Self learning material in distance education format. Coordinated the development of about 70 Blocks (text booklets) and manuals.
4. Prepare and moderate question papers and participate in various valuation processes of students that includes assignments, answer sheets, projects etc. Take practical examination and viva-voce of students
5. Take academic sessions through teleconference and audio-conference mode.
6. Guide students in project planning and conduction of project works
7. Develop audio-video programmes for students. Presently working on a series of Videos for IMCI training.
8. Edited the modules for ‘Certificate in Occupational Health Safety’ offered by an NGO named PRIA (Participatory Research in Agency)
9. Participated as an expert in finalizing the curriculum and implementation design of DNB ( Rural Surgery) offered by National Board of Examinations, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India that provides post-graduate medical education and training.
