Prof. Arbind Kumar Jha
Professor
Prof Arbind K Jha enjoys the distinction of having his Bachelor’s, Master’s, M.Phil. and Ph.D. — all degrees in Education from University of Delhi. More than thirty fellows at masters’ level, twenty fellows at M. Phil. level and seven fellows at Ph.D. level have written their dissertations and thesis in education under his supervision and guidance. Presently there are eight Ph.D. scholars conducting their research work. Before joining Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi, he was a faculty and Dean, School of Education at BB Ambedkar University, Lucknow, Central University of Himachal Pradesh, Dharamshala and Mahatma Gandhi International Hindi University, Wardha. He has held the positions of Director, Distance Education and Dean, Academics and Dean, Planning at MGAHV, Wardha. He has been a Fulbright-Nehru International Education Administrators Fellowship Awardee for the year 2016-17 and Inspired Teacher Awardee by President of India to participate in in-residence programme at Rashtrapati Bhawan (President House), New Delhi in 2015.
He is credited with widely acclaimed books entitled “Nyaya Philosophy: Epistemology and Education”; “Constructivist Epistemology and Pedagogy: Insight into Teaching, Learning and Knowing. He is also credited with four other publications with International Publisher, Pearson -- Measurement and Assessment in Education; Research in Education; Qualitative Research for Education and Fundamentals of Educational Psychology.
He has participated and presented more than fifty papers in several national, international conferences/seminars. He has presented his papers in the International Conferences of ‘Global Conference on Education’ at University of Riverside, California, USA; ‘Global Conference on Creative Engagements: Thinking with Children’ at Mansfield College, Oxford, UK; Canada International Conference on Education, at University of Guelph, Ontario, Canada etc.
Apart from presentation of papers, he has also visited some international universities such as University of La Sierra, University of Riverside at Riverside, California, USA and New York State University at New York, USA, Institute of International Education, Washington DC, USA, George Washington University, Washington DC, USA, George Mason University, USA, University of Maryland, Baltimore, USA, Gallaudet University, USA, American University, USA, University of Virginia, USA, Duke University, USA, University of North Carolina, USA, North Carolina Central University, USA, Elon University, USA, North Carolina State University, USA, Mansfield College, Oxford, UK, Institute of Education at London and Oxford University at Oxfordshire in UK, University of Western Sydney, Victoria University, Melbourne, Australia and National Institute of Education, Singapore.
He has also published papers in journals of repute. He is on the editorial boards of several internationally reputed Journals such as International Academic Board of African Journal of Pedagogy and Curriculum, Journal of Contemporary Educational Research (JCER), Journal of Autonomous Intelligence (JAI), EnPress, US. Currently, he is the editor of Indian Journal of Teacher Education (IJTE) published by NCTE, New Delhi.
He acts as a “Resource Person” for NCERT, New Delhi, SCERT, Gurgaon, Haryana Institute of Public Administration (HIPA), Gurgaon, Academic Staff College, Jamia Milia Islamia, New Delhi, Academic Staff College (ASC), HP University, Shimla, ASC at DAVV Indore, ASC, Jodhpur, ASC at Rajasthan University, Jaipur, HRDC-UGC Kumaun University, Nainital; ASC, Raipur and has delivered talks as Invited Speaker in different institutions in India. He is a prolific contributor to Philosophical and Educational Studies and Research. His areas of interest and specialization are Educational Problems and Practices in general and Epistemology, Pedagogy, and Constructivist Pedagogy, Philosophy of Mathematics, Science and Research in particular.
