The SOJNMS conducts in-service training programmes for media professionals, academics and researchers on different facets of journalism and mass communication from time to time. It has conducted capacity building programmes in collaborations with international partner institutions such as Deutche Welle (DW), Germany on Online Journalism, Web 2.0 & Train the Trainers.

Training workshops for the students of PG Diploma in Audio Programme Production and Certificate in Community Radio were conducted regularly from 2013 to 2018 at the following locations: Electronic Media Production Centre, GyanVani centres at New Delhi , Indore, Varanasi, Vishakhapatnam, Dehradun, Kochi, Kolkata and Ahmedabad.

The School also plans to conduct such training workshops in emergent areas at the national level independently as well as in collaboration with credible media organisations.
