MA in Electronic Media Production and Management (MA(EMPM))

Eligibility:

Graduation in any discipline with fifty percent marks.

This regular, full-time face-to-face programme will equip students in electronic media radio, television, and new media, production and management. The programme is designed to teach students the basics of sound, visual communication, camera handling and new media production.

It will expose them to the art and craft of recording and editing using the latest software. It will also help them to ideate, visualise and design media content in different programme formats. The programme will provide hands-on experience to the students, and develop appropriate skills and competencies to prepare them for any challenging assignments in the media industry.

The broad coverage areas of the programme are:

  • Principles of mass communication, visual communication and broadcasting;
  • Radio production, television production, new media production;
  • Presentation techniques for Radio and TV;
  • Management and media marketing;
  • Channel development and brand management;
  • Digital media and society;
  • Environmental communication and public service broadcasting; and
  • Internship and dissertation

Objectives

After completing the programme, a student will be able to:

  • Develop scripts for radio, television and new media;
  • Record and edit radio and television programmes;
  • Enhance presentation skills for radio and television;
  • Handle the camera;
  • Apply lighting techniques;
  • Develop professional sound recording, mixing skills;
  • Design websites; and
  • Develop media management skills.
