This is a unique programme developed to enhance the skills of citizens to understand the law, working of the legal system and to facilitate access to justice. The paralegal work entails providing assistance to aggrieved individuals/groups in accessing legal procedures for seeking legal remedies. A paralegal is a person who rights and to develop functional understanding of laws that affect individuals in their everyday life. It also aims to develop skills in accessing legal and judicial institutions and processes for public advocacy.
 

Objectives: The objectives of this programme are to:
 

  • provide functional understanding of law and legal system;
  • develop paralegal skills to access law and justice; and
  • create a cadre of ‘barefoot’ lawyers to provide preventive legal assistance to citizens.
