Doctor of Philosophy in Law (PHDLE)

Maximum Duration: 6 Years

Eligibility:

Possesses Master’s Degree from a University recognized by UGC or any other qualification recognized as equivalent thereto in such fields of study as are notified for the purpose from time to time by the University with at least 55% marks [50% marks in the case of SC, ST, OBC (Non-creamy Layer) and Differently-Abled and other categories of candidates as per the decision of UGC from time to time, or for those who had obtained their Master’s Degree prior to 19th September, 1991]excluding grace mark.

Qualifies in the entrance examination conducted by IGNOU at the National level.
 

 

Depending upon the position of vacant seats in the School, admission to Ph.D. Programme will take place in July session every year. The admission schedule will be announced through advertisement on the IGNOU website and/or in national newspapers for session indicating the Disciplines which are on offer during the session. The applications will be submitted through online mode.

The objectives of the Ph.D programme in law are to enable the Researchers:-

  • To conduct in-depth legal Research aiming at making significant contributions in the field of law.
  • To develop critical, systematic and analytical research aptitude.
  • To formulate the research design and use the tools for research effectively.
  • To maximise their learning in the area of their research study, philosophy of law, jurisprudence and constitutional law.
