The PG Diploma in Mental Health (PGDMH) programme is offered by the Discipline of Psychology, SOSS, IGNOU. The Programme aims at providing the learners a sound base in the field of mental health through an in-depth study into a broad range of psychological issues and concerns related to mental health. The programme was conceptualized to address the issue of human resources in the mental health profession. It is a capacity building programme for the physical and mental health personnel to take care of the pressing and crucial need of the society to address the mental health and well-being of the people. Since mental health is a crucial concern of the society, the programme will help meet the needs of the society in this regard. The programme will benefit the mental health workers/ professionals in various set ups ranging from primary health care centres, government hospitals and clinics to non-governmental organizations, hospitals and centres.
