Doctor of Philosophy in Library & Information Science (PhD in Library & Information Sc)

Minimum Duration: 2 Years
Maximum Duration: 5 Years
Course Fee: Rs. 14,000

Eligibility:

An MPhil Degree and a Post-Graduate Degree in a relevant discipline with minimum fifty-five percent marks (fifty percent marks for SC/ ST/ PH candidates) or an equivalent grade from a university or a recognised institution of higher training;
OR
Masters Degree in a relevant discipline with minimum fifty-five per cent marks (fifty percent marks for SC/ ST/ PH candidates) or an equivalent grade from a university or a recognised institution of higher learning and five years of teaching/ industry/ administration/ professional experience at senior level.

To facilitate the research work in the field of library and information science, particularly in the context of open and distance learning, the PhD in Library and Information Science has been launched in 2002 in response to the demand from the various groups of learners and different agencies. At the moment, the programme is available only to MPhil Degree holders.  It is expected that the programme will be opened to Master’s Degree holders shortly.
