Dr. K Anil Kumar

Assistant Professor (On lien)

Dr. K. Anil Kumar is an Assistant Professor with the Discipline of Anthropology. He obtained his M.A. M. Phil. and Ph.D. degree in Anthropology from the University of Hyderabad. He has been a recipient of the ICSSR Doctoral Fellowship. His area of specialization is Socio-Cultural Anthropology and his research interests include Culture and Environment, Indigenous Knowledge System, Natural Resource Management, Health & Nutrition, Development-induced Displacement, Resettlement and Rehabilitation, and Tribal Studies. He has published a good number of research papers and articles in journals and edited books of repute. He is the author of two books entitled “Relevance of Local Environmental Knowledge in the Era of Globalization” and “Obstructed Access to Forest Justice: The Implementation of Institutional Reform (FRA-2006) in Andhra Pradesh Forested Landscapes”. Dr. Kumar has participated in many National and International seminars and presented papers.
 
He has been actively associated with major and minor research projects and surveys with EPTRI, NIN, FHI, IPPG, UGC, DFID and Jamsetji Tata Trust. Prior to joining IGNOU he worked as an Assistant Professor for more than three years at the Center for Economic and Social Studies (ICSSR Institute), Hyderabad. Currently at IGNOU he is the course coordinator for the following courses, Anthropology and Methods of Research (MANI 001), Fieldwork and Dissertation (MANP), and Environmental Anthropology (MANE 005). He is Ph.D. Programme Coordinator and Discipline Coordinator of the Discipline. He is also the Programme Coordinator of B. A. (General) Anthropology along with Dr. Mitoo Das.
