Dr. Binod Kumar, PhD is working as Assistant Professor in the School of Social Work, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU). He obtained MPhil and PhD from the Centre for the Study of Law & Governance, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi. He did Master of Social Work from Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai and holds BA LLB from Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. Previously, he worked as Assistant Professor (ad-hoc) in the Department of Social Work, Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar College, University of Delhi, for four years. He has publications in various journals and edited books. Dr. Binod has also presented papers and chaired sessions in various seminars and conferences at national and international levels. His areas of interest are– disaster management, law & social work, community development, social entrepreneurship, corporate social responsibility and social policy.

He is coordinating Certificate in Social Work and Criminal Justice System (CSWCJS: ODL). He is one of the master trainers under Skill Acquisition and Knowledge Awareness for Livelihood Promotion (SANKALP) Project.
