Research and Benchmarking for Quality Management

  • Feed Forward Study on Learner Preference for Modes of Counselling

At IGNOU, counseling to the learners is by different modes, such as face to face, teleconferencing, interactive radio and Edusat-based counseling. To better understand the mode of counseling preferred by the learners, a Feed Forward Study has been undertaken initially for the prospective students of management (MBA) and education programmes (B Ed.). The report of the study has been prepared.

  • Feedback study on the use of EDUSAT

NCIDE undertook a Quick Feedback Study on the “Use of EDUSAT by the students of IGNOU”. The analysis of the study revealed that a majority of the students preferred multimedia rich teaching-learning packages. This survey provided the necessary feedback to plan ICT-enabled education intervention.

  • A study on Critical Issues in Distance Science Lab Practicals

This study was undertaken to identify the difficulties faced by the science learners of IGNOU, with special reference to the laboratory practicals. A questionnaire was designed to obtain quick learner feedback on questions related to student satisfaction with the current sessions of lab practicals. This feedback is expected to give useful insights into the teaching and learning of science using the traditional lab sessions and also to design simulated environments for science experiments.

  • A Study on Learning Styles, and Preferences for Mobile Enabled Learning & Support Services

NCIDE conducted a quick survey on science, computer science and management learners on their styles and preferences to use mobile as a tool for learning. The analysis of the quick survey revealed that a majority of the learners preferred delivery of rich multimedia content on their mobile. They also preferred student related information regarding contact sessions, submission of assignments, exam timetable and results to be delivered on their mobile. This survey provided the necessary feedback to plan mobile enabled teaching and learning.
