New Programmes to be developed and launched by the NCIDE

PG Diploma in Innovations Management

This programme will target the youth who are expected to gain knowledge and enhance their skills in Innovation Management.

PG Diploma in Evaluation Technology
This programme will empower teachers and others associated with evaluation and conduct of examination, with specialized skills on evaluation and measurement.
PG Diploma in Software Quality Management
This programme will provide competency to understand the basics of software quality development and implementation aspects.

New developments are emerging continually in the realm of distance education. The different aspects of distance learning such as teaching-learning, student support services, evaluation and assessment, and ODL management system are undergoing revolutionary changes. In context of this, the NCIDE proposes to conduct a National Seminar on “ODL-Vision 2020” to deliberate on the future trends and innovations for the next generation education scenario.

A National Seminar on “Examination Reforms in ODL System ”

Examination and evaluation is an integral part of any education system. A number of innovative initiatives have been taken for improving the quality and delivery of the teaching-learning system particularly in ODL system all over the world. At the same time there is a need for revolutionary change in the field of examination system also. The schemes of On-Demand Exam, On-line exam and ICT enabled examination management system are some of the areas catching the attention of the policy makers. Keeping in view the importance of examination and evaluation in education, NCIDE proposes to organize a national seminar on Examination Reforms in ODL System.

Workshop on Creativity and Innovation in Education

In a world of increasing complexity, change, and competition, generating new ideas and implementing them in the teaching and learning practices across the education sectors is now essential. NCIDE is planning to orgainse a three day workshop for IGNOU teachers packed with real-life, relevant examples of how organizations and individuals have innovated. This workshop is for anyone who needs the structure, methods, ideas and tools that will allow them to unleash their creativity and innovativeness.

Workshop for empowering ODL Functionaries for using ICT Tools

There are number of ICT tools available as open source. If the IGNOU Faculty is empowered on using these easily available tools for teaching-learning and students supports, it may revolutionize the ODL system. Aiming at capacity building of the faculty, it is proposed to organize workshop for using ICT tools. The faculty members of IGNOU, who are already trained in developing e-content using various ICT tools, want their skills to be applied especially with respect to e-content generation. The technology of delivery of e-content such as IGNOU WIKI and IGNOU online is already in place at IGNOU. However, the main constraint is the availability of e-content. E-content is the requirement of the day. E-content can be generated if tools are available to the faculty.

Workshop for Preparing Good Questions and Improving Quality of Question Papers

With the mandate for introducing innovations in the educational procedure and practices of IGNOU, the NCIDE has, among other items, identified “Improvement of Question Papers” as one of the priority areas to focus upon. For the purpose of capacity building of the faculty, NCIDE proposes to organize a series of orientation workshops on Framing Good Questions and Improving Quality of Question Papers for the IGNOU faculty from the Headquarters as well as from the Regional Centres. One workshop for three days each will be organized in each quarter so as to provide training to maximum number of faculty members. In the first phase the participants shall include faculty members and academics working in IGNOU HQ and RCs.

Popular talk series on Innovations and best practices

NCIDE is planning to organize a series of popular talk on innovations and developments in open and distance education in order to facilitate the exchange of innovative ideas and experiences in the field of distance education and to foster the spirit of innovation among the faculty and students. Various experts in the field of ICT, distance education, management from varied organizations from all over the country will be invited in this talk series.

National Innovations Drive

IGNOU is the world’s largest Open University which has been highly successful in its pursuit to provide cost-effective, quality, easy accessible distance education to a heterogeneous group of learners scattered around the world with varied culture and socio-economic background. As we are entering in the 25 years of our existence, we are required to pause and examine the existing best practices and how we can further strengthen our educational strategies and activities keeping learner centric flexible system of education. We believe that innovation is a proven driver of low cost, high quality, easy access and rapid technology deployment in teaching and learning improving the quality of educational experience of our learners. In this context, NCIDE is planning to initiate the National Innovation Drive for the IGNOU learners, academic and non-academic staff, which will provide a platform for taking their innovations from idea to reality.

Prototype On-line Examination System for IGNOU students

With the advancement of ICT not only the instructional system but the examination and evaluation system in the field of education are also being influenced to a great extent, Particularly in Open and Distance learning (ODL), the ICT has an important role to play. Now with the help of ICT the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) is becoming On-Demand Learning (ODL). Like wise the On-demand examination has become the need of hour making ODL more flexible and learner friendly. Now when the learners want “instant testing-instant result”, the On-line examination and evaluation may be a viable solution. In the silver Jubilee year, the NCIDE proposes to develop prototype of software for On-line examination which will include on-line generation of question paper and on-line evaluation.
