IGNOU has been striving to provide high quality education to all by making it accessible to everyone at anytime-anywhere and at learner’s doorstep. It has approached the task at two levels: i) as an institution, and ii) as a system-leader, which is one of the major endeavors of the university.

IGNOU started with three Online Programmes as a pilot project in the year 2020 and now IGNOU is offering 45 online programmes, which include various levels of programmes like 5 bachelor’s degrees, 13Master's Degrees, 8 PG Diplomas, 2 PG Certificates, 4 Diplomas and 13 Certificates programmes.

Till January 2024 Admission session overall 47,123 learners are enrolled, which includes EVBAB and GOAL-GUYANA foreign learners too. The Online programmes are designed on the four-quadrant approach which provides a comprehensive learning experience to the learners in a holistic manner.

COE is coordinating with SRD, RSD, RCs, SED and Schools for efficient delivery of Online Programmes of IGNOU. COE is also facilitating the production of Videos and Multimedia e-content with an In-house studio facility.

Student Support Services:
COE is also offering Student Support Services to its Online Learners on regular basis to resolve the queries related to online learning.

Training of Nodal Officers and Academic Counsellors on LMS:
Considering the importance of orientation of various features of LMS developed by COE, the training sessions were organised for Nodal Officers and Academic Counsellors of RCs.

The online courses are available on IGNOU Learning Management System (LMS). It is a dedicated portal for IGNOU online programmes using open-source technology with the latest architecture developed by COE. The purpose of this portal is to provide complete information to the learners about Online Programmes being offered by IGNOU. The portal also provides a Chatbot facility for prospective learners.
