UNESCO Chair in Teacher Education through Distance Mode, established in 1996 at IGNOU, acts as a focal point for activities implemented in the field of teacher education through distance mode, with specific reference to in-service teacher education and to upgrade the quality of teacher education programmes.

The Chair has partnerships with Universities in Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
