Dr. D. P. Singh joined IGNOU as Assistant Regional Director in April 2006. Since then he has served at different Regional Centres of West Bengal (Kolkata), Bihar (Patna), Jharkhand (Deoghar) and Delhi (RC Delhi-2), before joining the Regional Services Division recently. He was also posted in the Centralised Student Registration Cell (CSRC) of the Student Registration Division (SRD) of IGNOU for a brief period to make functional and streamline the newly established CSRC for handling the online admission processes. 

 

He has more than 17 years of experience in handling various aspects of Student Support Services in the ODL system and has successfully handled the responsibilities and activities related to admissions, assignments, practicals, projects, exams, evaluation, monitoring etc. He has been in various committees of the Regional Centres for handling of works related to administration of Regional Centres. He was also one of the members of the core team, which handled the training (through the DPE Programme) of more than 2 lakh para teachers of Bihar during 2007-10. As part of the team he efficiently handled the delivery of academic content through various multimedia means and also ensured smooth conduct of term end exams and on spot evaluation of answer scripts for successive term end exams. He was one of the first Academics to manage the activities of decentralised evaluation at Regional Evaluation Centre (REC) Patna from 2009-11. During his tenure in Deoghar, he worked in close coordination with study centres of the Tribal dominant Santhal Pargana area of Jharkhand to make the masses join the mainstream of higher education through the University. 

 

He has a doctorate in History with specialisation on the Buddha period civilization. He qualified the National Eligibility Test (NET) of the UGC and also has a B.Ed Degree.
