  • A two-day nation-wide induction programme for IGNOU learners through tele-conferencing mode. The country's first technology channel Gyan Darshan HI, called Eklavya, formally inaugurated by Prof. Murli Manohar Joshi, Minister of HRD, Technology and Ocean Development. Four FM Radio Stations at Bangalore, Lucknow, Vishakhapatnam and Coimbatore are also formally inaugurated. Hon'ble Ms. Sushma Swaraj, Minister of Information and Broadcasting is guest of honour on the occasion.
  • The 14th Convocation of IGNOU is addressed by Sir John Daniel, Assistant Director General, UNESCO.

  • Shri Rajnath Singh, Minister of Agriculture, visited IGNOU and addressed the various officials of KVKs via tele-conferencing.
  • Prof. William Maley, Director Asia Pacific College of Diplomacy, Australian National University, Canberra delivered a lecture on ‘National Security and International Terrorism: Issues for India and Australia’ on 9th Oct. 2003.
  • Sir Gareth Roberts, FRS, delivered a lecture on Leadership in Management and Research which was telecast nationwide from the studios of EMPC.
  • Prof. H.P. Dikshit, VC, participated in the UNESCO sponsored 2003 World Summit of Presidents and Vice-Chancellors of world’s largest universities at Shanghai. He was elected co-chairperson in the Summit. It was also decided that the next World Summit of Mega Universities would be hosted in the year 2005 by Indira Gandhi National Open University, with IGNOU VC as the Chairperson.
  • A delegation from South Korea visited IGNOU on a study tour and interacted with different Schools and Divisions.
  • Prof. S.C. Garg, PVC participated in the AAOU conference in Bangkok and was nominated on the Editorial Board of AAOU, Journal of Distance Education.
  • A two-day IGNOU-UNESCO workshop on framework for collaboration in Gender Training was held on 15th & 16th December. Prof. A.W. Khan, Assistant Director General, Communication and Information, UNESCO, delivered the keynote address.
