Dr. Madhu Bala
Professor
Dr. Madhu Bala is M.Phil and PhD from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. She was a Gold Medalist in M.A. Economics. Her academic awards include UGC Research Fellowship, and N.V.Gadgil Prize in M.A Economics for Distinction in Statistics.
In more than two decades of her academic career, she has many publications to her credit in the area of industry, international trade and development economics. These publications include: two books [(“The Economics and Politics of Resettlement in India”(2006); (co-edited.) and “Cement Industry in India: Policy Structure and Performance” (2003) (authored)]; 24 research papers and 4 book reviews in reputed refereed books and journals at the international and national level. One of her recent publications is on. "Firm Level Sources of Efficiency Growth: Evidence from Indian Automotive Part and Services Indus In Economic Essays edited by G. T. Papanikos, AIER Athens, Greece.
She has been a visiting scholar to the Manchester Metropolitan University, UK in 2004 and served as consultant to the World Bank, Washington DC in 2009. She has chaired sessions, participated as a panelist and presented papers in many national and international conferences, the most recent being the “International Conference in Athens Greece in 2011, where she presented a paper and also chaired a session.
Besides, she has coordinated two collaborative international projects: “Resettlement and Rehabilitation”, funded by The World Bank; and “Online Research Methods Resource” funded by The British Council.
At present, she is the Programme Coordinator of Post-Graduate Diploma Programme (PGDMRR), available in dual mode viz. offline and online. She is also the Course Coordinator of 14 courses of PGDMRR: Industrial Economics (M.Phil), International Trade and Finance (M.A.), Industrial Development in India (B.A.) and 11 courses of PGDMRR. In addition, she is supervising M.Phil and Ph.D. scholars.
