21 days Refresher Programme in Distance Education Concluded in IGNOU

21 days Refresher programme in Distance Education concluded in IGNOU, which was conducted by the Staff Training & Research Institute of Distance Education (STRIDE) at IGNOU campus Maidan Garhi, Delhi. At the valedictory ceremony Prof. Nageshwar Rao, Vice Chancellor of IGNOU, Prof. Sushma Yadav, Pro-Vice Chancellor were present.

There were 40 participants in this refresher course, 20 participants have come to take part in the programme from various Regional Centres of IGNOU and 20 were from Headquarters. Certificate of Participation was also awarded to the successful participants.

At the valedictory VC said “After this workshop, I am quite impressed with the way STRIDE undertook this workshop,” he even thanked all the participants for sparing their valuable time. VC Prof. Nageshwar Rao said that this 21 days refresher course enabled many participants to have more innovative thinking.” Pro-VC Prof. Sushma Yadav congratulated the officials who helped and worked hard during this workshop.

The Main Objectives of the programme was to Discuss the emerging trends and developments in the ODL systems, Explain the characteristics and processes of development of self-learning materials, Develop skills of writing SLMs in ‘Workshop mode’,Critically analyze vital issues relating to the development of DE, viz. media & Methods, its support services, counseling, assignments and examinations, Design and Develop audio and video programmes (provide hands on experiences), Discuss the issues related to Interactive Communication Technology (ICT), its course design for online learning and developing available multimedia course-ware models, Assessment and evaluation the quality of programmes and courses in Distance Education.

Programme Coordinator Prof. Rampelli Satyanarayana said that " the participants are able to “explain the advances in open and distance learning systems – growth, expansion and emerging scenario; analyze the issues confronted by ODL systems in changing societal conditions; examine the role of media and methods, its place in learning package; discuss the complexity and inter-relatedness of various sub-systems of ODL systems. Develop audio and video programmes and self-learning print materials. Use ICT for distance education effectively."
