Director
Dr C.K. Ghosh is presently Regional Director, Regional Services Division, Indira Gandhi National Open University.
He was formerly the Director, National Centre for Innovations in Distance Education (NCIDE), IGNOU, New Delhi. He was also entrusted with the responsibilities of being the Nodal Officer of the IGNOU Community College Scheme and also the Nodal Officer for the Integrated MSc-PhD Programme in Physics under IGNOU-Indian Institute of Astrophysics Collaboration.
This is after completing his three-year tenure as the Director, Regional Services Division heading the entire network of regional and study centres of IGNOU throughout the country. Prior to that, he was the Regional Director of IGNOU Regional Centre, Kolkata looking after the entire student support services network throughout West Bengal.
He had also served the School of Sciences in IGNOU as a Reader in Physics. Prior to this Dr Ghosh also served as a Lecturer in Physics at the Scottish Church College, Kolkata.
He did his PhD as a scholar of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) from The Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science, his area of work being ‘Electrical, Electro-Thermal and Galvanomagnetic Transport Properties of Thin Solid Films’.
He has co-authored five books – four in the areas of Physics published by McGraw Hill Education (India) Private Limited and the PHI Learning. The fifth book is titled, ‘DID YOU KNOW’, which is a compilation of 500 interesting facts published by Viva Books Pvt. Ltd.
Dr Ghosh has more than hundred publications in the form of research papers and articles on the areas of Solid State Physics, Mathematics & Physics Education, Open & Distance Learning and Value Education in several books and journals of national and international repute.
He has prepared quite a few educational audio/video programmes under the auspices of IGNOU. He has also participated in several national and international conferences as an invited speaker on wide ranging areas covering the subjects mentioned above.
He had served the Board of Management, Academic Council and Research Council of IGNOU for number of terms.
Dr Ghosh has been a member of the Executive Council, Academic Council, Research Council and Planning Board of the Netaji Subhas Open University. He had been a number of the Academic Planning Board of the Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University, Ahmedabad, Gujarat. He had been the Vice-President of the Kolkata Chapter of the Indian Association of the Physics Teachers and a member of the Indian Physical Society. He is also a member of the Board of Studies of Physics of Uttarakhand Open University, Haldwani, Nainital.
He was the Nodal Officer of ‘SAKSHAT’ – The One-Stop Education Portal of the MHRD and also the Chairman of the Content Advisory Group for Physics for the ‘SAKSHAT’ portal of MHRD.
He had been the Nodal Officer of the Rajiv Gandhi Project for EduSat Supported Elementary Education, which has been created for the spread of satellite based elementary education.
