UGC has approved the Refresher Programmes and Short-Term Professional Development Programmes of STRIDE-IGNOU as equivalent to UGC-HRDC for all purposes, including API and CAS. This has been approved in the 78th meeting of the Academic Council of IGNOU.
Two categories of training undertaken by STRIDE are given as follow:-
i) UGC-HRDC Refresher/STP/CBP, for teachers, academic and non-teaching staff.
ii) Ministry of Education-UGC NEP-PDP National Training of University and College Teachers.
i) UGC-HRDC for STRIDE Refresher and Short-Term Professional Development Programmes, and Capacity Building Programmes
UGC has approved the Refresher Programmes and Short-Term Professional Development Programmes of STRIDE-IGNOU as equivalent to UGC-HRDC for all purposes, including API and CAS (Ref: letter No. D.O. No.F16-11/2021(HRDC/IGNOU) dated 10th March, 2022). This has been approved in the 78th meeting of the Academic Council of IGNOU, June 13, 2022.
Besides offering PGDDE and MADE as long-term Professional Development Programmes in Distance Education, STRIDE conducts short-term training programmes of various types and for varieties of academic, technical/professional, and non-academics/organizations in India and overseas. Every year, training programmes ranging from 03 to 12 days on various aspects of distance education are conducted for staff working at IGNOU, in State Open Universities, Distance Education Institutes and all HEIs all over the country and abroad. Here are a few examples:

ii) National Training on NEP-PDP for 15 Laksh University and College Teachers on the Implementation on National Educational Policy-2020
[The NEP-PDP national training is guided by a NEP-Implementation Committee and five Working Groups, with Prof. Santosh Panda (Director, STRIDE) as Coordinator, Dr. G. Mythili (Additional Director, STRIDE) as Convener of WG on Swayam Delivery, and Prof. C.R.K. Murthy and Dr. Gloria Kuzur as Convener and Co-Convener.]
At the instance of the Ministry of Education, GoI and as approved by University Grants Commission as equivalent to UGC-HRDC short-term programme (STP), IGNOU through its nodal training agency the Staff Training and Research Institute of Distance Education (STRIDE) undertook the national capacity building programme on training of 15.1 lakh university and college teachers for implementation of NEP-2020 in higher education institutions under Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching (PMMNMTT).
The NEP-PDP (as STP: short-term professional development programme) of 6-days (36 hours to be completed in 9 days) was designed and implemented by combining for the first time, the following three national technology platforms:
· SAMARTH Platform for the registration of university and college teachers by the 56 regional centres of IGNOU.
· SWAYAM Vertical-II Platform for the online delivery of the STP, comprising 14 Modules, 31 Videos, Discussion Forum interaction, Assessment though MCQs for DF (30%) and End-Programme Test (70%) in which 50% scoring is the minimum for passing and certification. The modules and videos have been contributed by national experts and heads of institutions from AICTE, AIU,NAAC, NCERT, NIEPA, IGNOU, JNU among others.
· Swayam Prabha Channel-20 for interaction, on each of the six days of the programme, with teachers through Swayam Prabha Channel-20 interactive chat system conferencing by expert mentors on various important themes of NEP, including IKS, mother tongue education, multidisciplinarity, skilling and employability multiple entry-exit, ABC, blended curriculum design and pedagogy, multidisciplinary institutions, cross-border educational delivery, etc. So far 42 conferencing have been presented, and about 30 conferencing videos have been edited and put at Swayam NEP-PDP platform, and all videos are available at YouTube under COE-Live.

A national advisory from the Secretary, Ministry of Education, Government of India was sent to all State and UT Education Secretaries to send further notifications/orders to Vice-Chancellors and Principals of colleges to depute teachers to register and complete the NEP-PDP. An advisory has been sent by chairman-AICTE to all professional education institutions; by UGC to all UGC-HRDCs; and by Vice-Chancellor, IGNOU to all VCs of Central Universities.
A trail run for NEP-PDP Swayam and Swayam Prabha videos and an Introductory Video were circulated through Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and all IGNOU regional centre websites. RCs further circulated the advisory of Education Secretaries and letters from IGNOU Vice-Chancellor and state level Vice-Chancellors to college principals to depute teachers.
Advisories have been issued by 33 State/UT Education Secretaries in their respective states (Andaman Nicobar Islands(UT), Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chandigarh(UT), Chhattisgarh, Dadra Nagar Haveli,Daman Diu(UT), Delhi, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu Kashmir, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, Pondicherry(UT), Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Telangana. Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal, West Bengal).
The implementation advertisement of NEP-PDP capacity building was issued on August 15, 2022, following which teachers started getting registered to the NEP-Samarth platform; and the admission data were pushed to Swayam Vertical-II for offer of the programme. The first batch for 6-days training (to be completed in 9 days) started on September 9, 2022.
