Prof. Nirod Kumar Dash


Dr. Nirod Kumar Dash, M.A., M.Phil., Ph.D. is a Professor of Education in the School of Education, IGNOU. He joined IGNOU in June 1988. He holds M.A. (Education) degree from Utkal University, M.Phil (Education) from CCS University, Meerut and Ph.D. (Education) from Centre for Advanced Study in Education, M.S. University, Baroda. He has 31 years of experience in distance teaching. He has published more than 50 papers in national and international journals, books and self-learning materials. He has edited books, self-learning material and proceedings of the Conferences. He had presented papers in 19th World Conference on Open Learning and Distance Education organized by ICDE held at Vienna in 1999, Third Pan-Commonwealth Forum held at Dunedin, New Zealand in 2004 and World Conference on Virtual Educa held at Lima, Peru in 2014. Five students have been awarded Ph.D. degree under his guidance. He performed as a Chairman, a Member Coordinator and a Member of NAAC visiting teams for assessing of a few B.Ed. Colleges. He also performed as a Member of DEC-UGC-AICTE teams constituted for State Open Universities and Correspondence Course Institutes. He is a member of Faculty Board of Central Institute of Education, University of Delhi. Board of Studies, Department of Education, Banaras Hindu University, and Departmental Advisory Board, Department of Teacher Education, NCERT. He is a member of Editorial Board of Indian Journal of Open Learning.
He was Director of the School of Education, IGNOU from August 01, 2013 to July 31, 2016. He has been involved in the development of several courses under different programmes of School of Education like PGDHE, B.Ed., D.El.Ed., PGDET and M.A. (Education). He is currently the Programme Coordinator of M.A. (Education) Programme. For details please contact:
