Dr. Ravi Rajwanshi
Associate Professor
Dr. Rajwanshi is presently working as an Associate Professor at the Discipline of Life Sciences, School of Sciences, IGNOU, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi. Before joining IGNOU, he served as Assistant Professor at the Department of Biotechnology, Assam University, Silchar, Assam, India. Dr. Rajwanshi has more than 14 years of post-Ph.D. research and 13 years of teaching experience, respectively.
Dr. Rajwanshi has earned his graduation and master’s degree in Biosciences from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, followed by a Ph.D. on the research topic "Development of abiotic stress tolerant Brassica juncea with Glyoxalase I and Glyoxalase II genes under inducible/constitutive promoters using PMI and Cre-lox system" from the School of Life Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, India. During his Ph.D., he got trained at the University of Basel, Switzerland, in the Indo-Swiss Collaboration in Biotechnology (ISCB) Project. He did his Postdoctoral research in a DBT-funded project at the NRCPB, New Delhi, as well as at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, USA, as a DBT Overseas Associate.
His broad area of research interest is Plant Molecular Biology and Biotechnology. To date, he has published his research findings in renowned international journals of high impact like BBA-Bioenergetics, BMC Genomics, Theoretical and Applied Genetics, Physiologia Plantarum, Environmental and Experimental Botany etc. and has also been associated as a reviewer for many of these journals. He has published a number of book chapters in the edited books of international publishers and is presently involved in the development of new courses for Open and Distance Learning (ODL) at IGNOU. To date, he has successfully guided the research of 3 Ph.D. scholars and 28 M.Sc. students. He has also been the recipient of extra-mural research funding in various capacities for scientific research from SERB as PI, CSIR and UGC as Co-PI.
