Dr. Ali Asgar
Assistant Professor
Dr. Ali Asgar (Born 1977), has done M.A, M Phil, Ph.D from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. He also acquired Advance Diploma in Mass Media from JNU and Post Graduate Diploma in Distance Education from IGNOU. Before joining Staff Training and Research Institute of Distance Education (STRIDE, he worked with central government organization for three years. He also worked with leading print and electronic media houses; therefore he has great exposure to print and electronic media which makes the teaching and learning practices more effective and accessible both in distance and regular mode of education.
At STRIDE, he is involved in coordinating, designating and developing training programmes for teachers, academics and non-teaching staff of IGNOU and other ODL institutions and also performs as a Resource Person during workshops/training programmes for the capacity building of ODL practitioners. He is also Co-Coordinating a course pertaining to M.Phil/Ph.D in Distance Education and carrying out Programme Evaluation activity.
Dr. Ali Asgar also performed responsibilities of Managing Editor and Editor of international refreed journal ‘Indian Journal of Open Learning’ (IJOL) published by IGNOU.
Apart from his core area of competencies, his other areas of interest include: developing self-learning materials, content, format editing, translation, creating audio-video programmes, staff training and research, assessment and evaluation, Urdu literature; and professional development of ODL functionaries through maximum use of multi-media.
His publications include one book (edited) and various articles and bylines in English and Urdu which have been published in leading newspapers and magazines.
