Mr. Guilherme Vaz
Mr Guilherme Vaz, is a Post Graduate Management Professional (XLRI Jamshedpur), specialized in Large Scale Change Management with significant Senior and Director level Management experience over 30 years, with the TATA group and IL&FS, in Corporate Human Resource Management, Corporate Affairs, Corporate Brand Identity Management and Large Change Management.
In addition to his full-time Corporate role, Mr Vaz has been simultaneously, deeply and passionately involved voluntarily for 35 years in education and social development in India and in 20 countries and has been recognized over the years, both in India and Internationally, through senior level appointments at International, National, Board and Institutional levels.
A Resource Person for over 10 years for Govt. of India’s, Ministry of Human Resources Development and for several State Governments in India, he is on the Governing Boards of The Council for The Indian School Certificate Examinations; The Inter-State Board for Anglo-Indian Education and The National Institute of Open Schooling.
Having taught for 4 years at St Xavier’s Collegiate School, Kolkata, while pursuing his graduate studies, on completing his Post Graduate Mangement Qualifications, Mr Vaz worked tirelessly and voluntarily towards bringing professional management principles and practices into the education domain and was instrumental in conceptualizing and being actively involved in establishing, in the early 1980’s, India’s first University Department of Education Management, at SNDT Women’s University ( Asia’s First Women’s University), and continuing for several years as Visiting Faculty & External Examiner for their Post-Graduate Research Projects in Education Management.
Mr Vaz’s expertise in formal and Non-Formal Education and large scale, technology- enabled, change initiatives at School, Technical, Vocational and Higher Education levels and in the social sector, has been drawn upon by diverse Private, Government, Church and Non-Governmental Organizations both nationally and Internationally.
A speaker, resource person and thought-leader at several International Conferences, he has been Visiting Faculty at Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay; Governing Body Member of an All India Association of Private Technical and Vocational Schools and Member, of Confederation of Indian Industry’s Primary & Literacy Committee & Higher Education Committee; Expert & Resource Person for many International Development Agencies, and a Co-Facilitator and Consultant for projects of the Commonwealth of Learning in Asia, the Caribbean Region, East and West Africa and as a Theme Leader for the Pan-Commonwealth Forum. For 25 years, he has been the nominee of three successive Cardinals for the Archdiocesan Board of Education in Mumbai and as Consultor for Education to the Catholic Bishops in India, been closely involved in Catholic Education In India and the Church’s concern for the Marginalized and was closely involved in formulating the first ever All India Catholic Education Policy.
Pursuant to his appointment in April 2008 by Pope Benedict XVI on a key Vatican Governance Council, Mr Vaz left employment in the corporate sector to enable a wider worldwide canvas without conflict of interest. His personal focus and interest has been on ICT in Education & Social Sectors; IT systems and Processes in Education Administration & Social Sectors; Education and Examination Reform; Governance Standards, Processes & Management; Education Leadership: Strategy, Planning and Policy; Benchmarking and Quality Standards, Planning, Process and Evaluation; Private Public Partnership Education models, evaluation and monitoring; Long Term Financing Models for sustainable education and development and National Skills Development: Planning Strategy & Deployment.
