The Bachelor of Arts (Vocational Studies) in Tourism Management (BAFVTM) is a four-year undergraduate program offered by the School of Tourism and Hospitality Service Management (SOTHSM), aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. This program provides a structured and progressive pathway for learners, offering exit options with a Certificate after one year, a Diploma after two years, a Degree after three years, and a Bachelor’s Honours Degree upon completing the fourth year. Delivered in distance mode, the program spans eight semesters with a total of 160 credits, combining discipline-specific core courses, vocational minors, skill enhancement, value-added, and interdisciplinary courses. It provides learners with a comprehensive understanding of tourism management, entrepreneurship, cultural studies, and operational practices, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to excel in the growing travel and tourism industry. With flexibility and accessibility at its core, the BAFVTM program caters to students from diverse backgrounds, including working professionals and self-employed individuals, offering instruction in both English and Hindi to ensure inclusivity and reach.
The Programme seeks to provide an opportunity to large segment of the population including the disadvantaged to pursue a programme on tourism and travel. The programme is for creating a dedicated and skilled workforce in the Travel and Tourism Sector. The people working in the tourism sector, self-employed, other adults who wish to upgrade their educational qualification and knowledge in the tourism sector will be benefitted with this programme. The programme will provide University level education in new fields of knowledge and niche areas which fulfil the demands of employment and economy of the country.
