Introduction

The Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning offered by the School of Computer and Information Sciences, IGNOU is a two-year postgraduate programme designed to equip learners with advanced knowledge and practical skills in the rapidly evolving fields of AI and ML. The programme focuses on key areas such as data science, deep learning, natural language processing, computer vision, and intelligent systems. It is structured to provide a strong theoretical foundation along with hands-on experience through projects and practical work. Delivered through IGNOU’s flexible and distance learning mode, the programme is suitable for working professionals as well as fresh graduates who wish to build expertise in AI-driven technologies and pursue careers in academic, research, industry, and innovation.

Exit Option:If a learner decides to EXIT from the programme after successful completion of all the courses of the first two semesters (40 credits), then the learner is eligible for the award of Post Graduate Diploma in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. However, to mention that there is no explicit admission for the Post Graduate Diploma in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.

The M.Sc. (Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning) programme is designed to prepare graduate students for successful careers in the software industry and academia. The following are the objectives:

  • To equip with the skills to collect, manage, analyse and interpret large and complex datasets
  • To equip with the skills to collect, manage, analyse and interpret large and complex datasets.
  • To apply machine learning and deep learning techniques to solve real-world problems in various domains such as business, healthcare, social sciences, and engineering.
  • To prepare for careers as Machine Learning Engineer, Data Scientist, AI Research Scientist.
