In this course on ‘Community Organization Management for Community Development’ there are four blocks. Block 1 deals with the concept of community and community development. In this block we also discuss about the meaning, nature and characteristics features of urban, rural and tribal communities, place of community work within social work practice and community development programmes in rural, tribal and urban areas. This Block will also give you an understanding of the concept of accountability and its importance in community development work. Block 2 is on community organization for community development. Apart from explaining the values, purpose and assumptions underlying community organization this block also outline the philosophy and history of community organization in the USA, UK and India. In this block we also discuss about similarities, differences and relationship between community organization and other methods of social work. The block also discusses about models of community organization, concept and dimensions of power and the relevance of power in community organization practice as well as impact of globalization on contemporary communities and community practice. Block 3 deals with social action for community development. Apart from discussing concept, history, scope and relevance of social action, this block also deals with various models of social action, strategies and tactics in social action, values, ethics and principles of social action. Block 4 is on social administration. In this block we discuss about concept, history, nature, scope, functions and principles of social welfare administration. Types and characteristics of social welfare organization have also been discussed under this block. Social Welfare administration is the execution of the programmes, schemes and projects meant to achieve the goals delineated in the social policy. The discussion and deliberation in this course is very important for social work students because we have covered several important topics that are needed for a social work student in the field of social work. Although all these topics require much more discussion, due to the limitations prescribed for a course, we have to cut short the length of the course material by making a presentation of the basics.

MEDSE-046 is Development: Issues and Perspectives. This course has 5 blocks namely:

Block 5 Core Issues in Development

MEDSP-051 is Project Work in CSR. This course consists of project work in which the students are supposed to select a topic, select a supervisor, prepare a project proposal which has to be sent to the Programme Coordinators for approval. Once approved, they need to wrok on the project, prepare a report and submit the report for evaluation.
