It introduces the students to basics of computer science research covering topics like research in computer science, formulation of research problem in computer science, introduction to formal methods and computability, basic techniques of design of algorithms, complexity theory, qualitative reasoning, research data, literature survey, writing papers, review process and thesis writing.

This is an elective Pre-PhD course offered in face-to-face mode at School of Computer and Information Science, IGNOU, New Delhi. This course covers topics on data mining. It covers topics like data pre-processing, data warehouse and OLAP technology, mining frequent patterns, Association and correlation, classification and prediction.

This is an elective Pre-PhD Course offered in face-to-face mode at School of Computer and Information Sciences. It covers different topics in machine learning. It discusses the concept of e-learning system, concept learning, decision three learning, evaluating hypotheses, Bayesian Learning and Computational learning theory.

This course is offered in workshop mode at IGNOU Head Quarters for all the PhD student. It covers the basic concepts of Ethics in research.
