Introduction

Certificate in Maternal Child Health Nursing (CMCHN) The Certificate in Maternal and Child Health Nursing is six months continuing nursing education programme of 16 credits to update the knowledge, skills and render effective health care of health care providers in reproductive and child health. The programme is meant for ANM/FHW/PHN/Health supervisors and In-service nursing professionals (RNRM).
The broad objectives of this programme are to: Update the knowledge and skills of health care providers in reproductive and child health. Enable the health care providers to render effective health care to mother and child. Minimum qualification Nursing professionals (RNRM) with diploma in general nursing and midwifery (GNM) or above Health worker (F)/ANM/Health Supervisor. The programme consists of 6 credits in Theory Course - Maternal and Child Health Care –BNS-117 and 10 credits in Practical- Practices and Procedures in Maternal and Child Health Care -BNSL-117
Implemented through Nodal Centre-RC Bijapur via alternate strategy Theory Contact sessions- Multimedia approach via GD- TC/GV-IRC/Web support including WEAS portal through and other portals along with Print material which in itself is self learning style. A panel of Subject experts in Obs& Gynae, Paediatrics as part time Academic Counsellors for specialty areas. Total hours18 hrs via online counselling sessions
Total hours of Practical sessions are conducted /completed under approved concerned nursing officer (Mentor) by student on job itself, certified by the mentor. Learner is required to submit case studies/workbook for evaluation, which will be evaluated by Expert from the respective specialty to become eligible for practical examination.

Note: As per Indian Nursing Council (INC) letter No.F.No.22-203/CNE/2018-INC dated 27/11/2020 the DNA programme can be considered under continued Nursing Education programme with 55 CNE credit hour/11 Credit as approved by INC
