CWHM: Certificate in Water Harvesting and Management(ODl)

Introduction

Over the years with increase in population, growing demand for domestic, agriculture and industry has led to phenomenal increase in demand for water. This has resulted in over exploitation of limited surface as well as ground water resources resulting in steep decline in ground water levels. There is no further scope of development of surface and good quality ground water resources. The situation in urban areas is even more serious. In future, the challenge for meeting water requirement for competing sectors will be enormous due to ever increasing the population. Presently very little rainfall is conserved and harvested. There is a tremendous possibility for harnessing the rainwater for augmenting the existing water resources. There is an urgent need for developing trained human resource for creating awareness and dissemination of skills of rainwater harvesting and its reuse for different sectors.

Objective

In view of the increased awareness among the public at large and also the initiatives taken by the Governments including civic agencies, the Certificate holders will be fully equipped to serve various Government and Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs) dealing with water harvesting projects, Urban Housing Boards, Private Real Estate Builders, Soil Conservation Departments and Ground Water Boards as Water Harvesting Assistants.
