The MPA (Theatre Arts) at School of Performing and Visual Arts, Indira Gandhi National Open University(IGNOU)consists both theoreticalandpracticalcoursesthatprovideawider perceptiontothe learners enrolling in the programme. It consists of 16 courses spread over two yearsin addition to dissertation in the second year. The MPA in Theatre Arts will be offered in a modular format with exit and later entry options. Learners have the option to exit after completing the first year.Those who wish to avail this option receive the Post Graduate Theatre Arts. Those who complete the second year receive an MPA Theatre Arts Degree.
The programme, in general, is divided into four semesters. In each semester two practical courses clubbed with theory courses and a dissertation in fourth semester a dissertation.
The programme designed in a such a way that the learners will gain both theoretical and practical knowledge of Theatre Arts and as well as provide a foundation to Film Acting which is in more demand in today’s scenario. Further the learners will be able to create theatrical performances and also will be able to earn their employment either in private or in public sector. Thisprogramme will also provide an introduction to Research methodology for those who are interested to do researchPerforming Arts (Theatre and its allied arts)
