This course mainly deals with the concept and paradigm of translation. Divided into 4 blocks this course discusses in detail the various translation theories, Indian and Western traditions of translation, various new concepts of translation and translation studies. The fourth block of the courses talks about the journey of translation studies which gives birth to various new dimensions of translation i.e. role of culture, translation and post-colonialism, translating identities, Globalization and translation. After studying this course, the learners would be able to have an understanding of the very concept.

This course mainly deals with the process and methods of translation. Divided into 6 blocks, this course discusses about the various types, forms and areas of translation. It also talks about the tools of translation which include dictionaries, glossary, technical terminology etc. Aspect of machine translation and computer dictionary has also been discussed in this course in detail. After studying this, the learners would be able to not only understand all these concepts along with the concepts of vetting, evaluation and review but the in-built exercises would also provide them hands-on experience in the mentioned areas.

This course deals with the linguistic and cultural context of translation. Divided into 4 blocks, this course discusses the concepts of language, contrastive analysis, language registers in the light of translation. This course also talks about the various dimensions of socio-cultural translation including literature, society, the role of translation in nation building etc. Translation plays a vital role in education. Keeping all these dimensions into consideration, this course provides in-built exercises for the learners.

This course deals with the concepts of administrative and commercial translation. Translation is a need of any developing society. To cater this, this course provides all the required content for the very concept which includes theoretical knowledge pertaining to administrative and commercial translation as well as the practical aspect of the same to provide a holistic knowledge and experience to the learners. After studying this, the learners would be able to understand all the related aspects and have hands-on translation training as well.

This course deals with 2 areas of translation i.e. literature and media. Divided into 6 blocks this course covers various dimensions like literary translation, various genres of literature and their translation, the concept of Indian and western literature and the role of translation. Oher half of the course talks about media, its concept, forms and development, role of translation in media and journalism, new media, community media, advertisement, dubbing, subtitling and role of translation in all such areas. After studying this, the learners would be able to understand about various dynamics of both the areas of translation and learn to translate them as well.

This course deals with the concepts of script writing, its process, audio-visual media, its various dimensions and interrelation between adaptation and intermedial translation. After studying this course, the learners would be able to understand the process of script writing and its use and demand in various fields of literature, media, cinema etc. The course provides hands-on experience in script writing through this course.

MTTP 003 is a project work which focuses on hands-on practice of translation to the learners. In this course, learners have to identify a text for translation. After translation, they have to write a detail translator’s note discussing the challenges they faced during translation and the strategies they applied. Through this, learners woould be able to understand the soul of the programme and would experience real time work practice. The process of preparing project work is given in programme/project guide in detail.
